Introducing OLIVIA-HYE of LOONA (12th Girl To Be Revealed for 이달의 소녀)

Introducing OLIVIA-HYE of LOONA 이달의 소녀 - the 12th and final Girl To Be Revealed for this South Korean girl group! She is the second youngest member of the team (older than YeoJin), and is the third tallest (after Yves and JinSoul). She is infamously known to be "a trainee for one day" at BlockBerry Creative. Also infamous for her multiple nicknames: "Boss Baby" and "Baby Wolf".



The following Concept Photos were revealed (From June 3-June 6, 2021) in anticipation of LOONA's 4th mini album [&] comeback, scheduled for 2021.6.28 pm6 (KST) Release.



A notably larger campaign to reveal the final member of LOONA saw Olivia Hye being teased from March 8, 2018, until March 30, 2018, when her single album Olivia Hye, with the single "Egoist" was released and subsequently debuted as a member of LOONA, and as apart of the third and final LOONA sub-unit; "yyxy", whom subsequently debuted on May 30th, with a mini-album "beauty&thebeat". Featured below is her musical journey from debut to her current LOONA LOG!

LOOΠΔ [Olivia Hye]: "Since the debut of HeeJin in October 2016, LOOΠΔ has finally announced its twelfth member Olivia Hye to complete its line-up.

With the largest scale and the longest period of debut promotion in the K-pop history, LOOΠΔ has been building its own universe carefully to build credibility in the quality of music and the trust in the team among fans.

LOOΠΔ 1/3 has gone around the world to unite the girls, and released 'Love&Live' and 'Love&Evil' to show the process of transformation to explain the universe of LOOΠΔ for the first time. LOOΠΔ / ODD EYE CIRCLE gathered three odd girls to complete a big circle with colors as the central idea.

Last four girls are remaining. Starting with Yves, Chuu and Go Won talk about their ego. The ego is seen as a girl who admires someone, or envies another. Sometimes, it starts from self-loathing or disappointment in oneself.

However, they come to a realization that self-awareness is not decided upon or created by somebody else, but build by oneself by starting to love oneself. With novelty, excitement, and uniqueness. Although it may seem selfish, the process of completing one's ego with loving oneself is captured in the story.

Olivia Hye's titled track 'Egoist’ starts with calm melodies to eventually encounter provocative beats to take a step towards loving oneself instead of someone else. Pop melodies mix with EDM beats to build up until a dramatic fall at the beat drop, which then is brought to salvation by JinSoul's rap.

Also, the music video features Olivia Hye's dynamic movements, along with hidden cuts around the narratives of LOOΠΔ." (Source)



LOOΠΔ [Olivia Hye] Continued: "Go Won and Olivia Hye's duet 'Rosy' captures the pretty but edgy unpredictable emotions of modern girls who are nice but chic, kind but naughty, or interested but not enough to go out with someone.

After the introduction of its twelfth member Olivia Hye, LOOΠΔ will spend April as the preparation period until the new unit will be unveiled in May. There will also be an event in May with a whole new concept announced for the fans."

Featured above is a video of the 1st Fan Event for Olivia Hye & Go Won, and you can see them partnered together often, including going to Iceland together in GO WON TV, and as well Olivia Hye has called Go Won her "soulmate". If you noticed in the photos seen above (left), both of them are wearing what would be the "signature" outfits for sub-unit yyxy.

What is very interesting thus far, is seeing the evolution of what was initially a very shy young lady, since grown into a no-nonsense "I don't like acting cute" Boss Baby, as chronicled in these LOONA TV episodes showing her debut, and assorted videos posted below of her recent "LOONA LOG" and appearances in online YouTube channels.

As mentioned earlier on in this blogpost, Olivia Hye is know to be "a trainee for one day", and in the following video, she mentioned how it affected her ... and in subsequent assorted videos, we get to see glimpses of Son Hye-Joo, fighting against being the performer known as "Olivia Hye" and perhaps what folks expect, and think of who she is, and should be ... I figure Hye-Joo aims to speak her "truth", subject to circumstances, of course. She seems to be quite aware, moreso than she let's on, IMHO. And of course all this is just my conjecture and speculation, based only on videos seen online ... Do we really know WHO she, or any of the ladies in LOONA truly are? :)
