"Viva! La Woman" by Cibo Matto (1995): CD-Flip thru & Full Album Listen
#soundtrackofmylife: Cibo Matto’s "VIVA LA WOMAN" was such a revelation when I first heard it... it somehow reminded me of this feeling I’d felt when I first read the GIANT ROBOT magazine, like another veil to the world beyond my understanding has yet again been lifted ... I'd always had been a sheltered guy in Singapore, not gone beyond its shores for anything beyond "holidays" (except that time in 2000 for work). Ever a perspective as a "consumer", and these days a self-styled "collector of sonic memories" (*hence this blog). Also having all the song titles themed after food/beverage appeals to me :)
"Viva! La Woman" is the debut studio album by the band Cibo Matto, and is one of two full albums I own from this American alternative rock band (formed by Yuka Honda and Miho Hatori in New York City in 1994). Released on January 16, 1996 by Warner Bros. Records - featured above is my hands-on flipping thru the inner insert of the CD album, while listed below is the full album, with food+beverage-named track-listing courtesy of Wiki.
"Cibo Matto" (pronounced [ˈtʃiːbo ˈmatto]) is Italian for "crazy food".
All tracks are written by Cibo Matto (Miho Hatori and Yuka Honda), except where noted. Some audio showcased below are "2006 Remasters".

1. "Apple" (4:01)
2. "Beef Jerky" (2:28)
3. "Sugar Water" (4:29) Cibo Matto / Ennio Morricone

5. "Birthday Cake" (3:15)

The "Know Your Chicken" music video was directed by Evan Bernard (2016's "Patriots Day" feature film), while Michel Gondry helmed "Sugar Water" ... Besides MVs directed for Daft Punk, Radiohead, Björk, Beck, The Chemical Brothers, Kylie Minogue, The White Stripes and more (I should really do a separate blog-feature for his work), with his feature film credits including "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004), "The Science of Sleep" (2006), and "Be Kind Rewind" (2008) ... just don't mention 2011's "The Green Hornet" ohgod...
