뛰어(JUMP)
Everything I know about BLACKPINK these days, is thru reading social media reactions and commentary. From complaints of lack of promotions, to even doubts of the existence of the announced concert, my attention to BP is dictated by fans and so-called-fans and even antis.
And while I would hardly dare call myself a "BLINK", I do enjoy my BLACKPINK, and honestly attribute them to being the small handful that helped draw me back into the KPOP-fold, after a decent good years' lapse, but that's another to be retold at another time... meanwhile this is their latest single "JUMP(뛰어)"!
Interestingly the song title is created as "뛰어(JUMP)", but with lyrics predominantly in English, it is no small wonder which direction the girls and label are heading towards. Each of the members have experienced their own fair share of solos and fame, coupled with BP-infamy, they now need to evolve and grow beyond Korea, and even their tune reflects a huge shift compared to their previous sound(s).
According to pitchfork.com, "JUMP" was co-written and co-produced by Diplo, with the MV directed by Dave Meyers. The track first debuted at their opening night of their "Deadline" World Tour. Honestly, I personally do miss the "Teddy-flavour", and one can argue "This is not the Blackpink I remembered", then have no doubt that they are not, and you have their previous albums to re-listen to and MVs to rewatch, while now looks like a good time to JUMP along with them to their future. You can close your eyes (if you fear heights), but don't close your ears tho ~ LOL
