Vol.35 - 4 X 4 on #TUNESTALKSG

"4 X 4 on #TUNESTALKSG" is a new ongoing serial feature(I started in 2025) where I showcased/share 4 tracks / MVs from 4 Random Albums I have in my eclectic collection ... some might get their own Full Album Listens, most might not, cheers.

Released in 1999, "Remedy" was the debut studio album by the English electronic music duo Basement Jaxx. The irresistible explosive-sonic landscape of house, big beat, and garage (oft infused with Latin and ragga influences) was massive.

I'll be honest here - every track in all their albums I own, is memorable to my ears, but I cannot name any of the song titles. I just absorbed the music and did not look or "remember" further. This was the phase of "dance music" I consumed but for the lack of lyrics for me to pay further attention beyond the name of the music-makers instead :p

This suited my "lifestyle" then, as I begun to wade neck-deep into my job(s) and devoted very little time and attention to anything else (including family and girlfriends), with my self-centredness on overdrive, without the need for explanation nor any sense of "connection" to lyrics, which did not exist in dance tracks LOL

"Dead Cities" by The Future Sound of London is a 1996 release, with this purchase born of a listening booth, and a period of time when I started to delve heavily into Electronic / Techno / Trip-hop, even though I attempted clubs which proved too pretentious, at least for me LOL

I had just finished a 2 week backpacking tour of Germany and was introduced to the neo-electronic soundscape and European club aesthetics, and then started a new gig designing for television, and ironically the music did not fit me into the mould expected of me, but turned out to be a guiding soundtrack to my life to excel otherwise. #truestory

Released circa 2000, "Two" by the electronic music group Utah Saints bore tantalising tracks such as "Love Song" (above).

From the sole track "Tainted Love", I'd delve into Soft Cell and came out with spectacular albums that shaped my inner torch-songs! I first owned "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret" on cassette, and subsequently tracked down the CD album years later (they were not at all available in Singapore for way too long a time, and were quite "risqué"), and revelled yet again in the early-80's Synth-pop / New Wave...! I need to do me a Full Album Listen tho... I remembered the lyrics for "Say Hello, Wave Goodbye" being as evocative and emotional as the lifestyle I've not experienced before...
