NewJeans' Minji Performs "Odoriko" (for #BunniesCamp2024 @ Tokyo Dome)

Each of the girls from NewJeans performed a solo stage for their appearance at Bunnies Camp @ Tokyo Dome, one of whom was Kim Min-ji / Minji, who sang "Odoriko" ("踊り子" / "Dancer", originally performed by Vaundy).

Featured here is a fancam of her stages (for Day 1 & Day 2), where she donned different school uniforms (Day 1 was her own art school's, while Day 2 was Japanese school uniform), which understandably were tricky, as recording was apparently prohibited at Tokyo Dome, but ... ALSO scroll to the bottom for original MV by Vaundy, and the meaning of the song itself, cheers. Enjoy!

"'踊り子 (Odoriko),' which translates to 'Dancer' in English, is a song that seems to explore themes of memory, longing, and the passage of time. The lyrics suggest a sense of something lost or left behind, as the speaker mentions things that seem to float away, urging to pick them up before they burst and are forgotten. This could be a metaphor for memories or feelings that are slipping away, and the desire to hold onto them before they disappear completely.

The song also touches on the idea of a shared future with 'that child' (which could be a term of endearment for a loved one), and the wish to be able to start over or aim for something together again...

Lastly, the song reflects on the enduring nature of love, suggesting that even as time moves on and people change, the essence of love remains constant. The lyrics propose that what remains after everything else has scattered is an unchanging song of love, implying that love is the legacy that endures through the ages. Vaundy's musical style often blends poetic lyrics with modern melodies, and '踊り子 (Odoriko)' is no exception, offering listeners a contemplative and emotionally resonant experience."
