Introducing HASEUL of LOONA (3rd Girl To Be Revealed for 이달의 소녀)



The "Birth of the LOONAVERSE" is commonly attributed to the first music video from LOONA, featuring HeeJin's "ViVid", but personally for myself, it was when I first watched HaSeul's "소년, 소녀 (Let Me In)", that I could recognise the overt tones of a visual lore unfolding.



Debuting December 14th, 2016, the MV came shortly after the reveal of the third girl from LOONA, with HaSeul traipsing thru Iceland (for this MV) in December 8th, while in her duo guise of both the "GIRL" and the white haired "BOY". Featured below are the two teasers leading up to the MV launch:







The song itself showcases a exceedingly delightful orchestra-styled musical, with additional thrills reminiscent of birds' chirps, with the resultant sonic production the more full-bodied score in LOONA's discography, IMHO.

As well the imagery and symbolism is heightened (compared to the previous two members' MV) and overt, and upon MVs from subsequent members, are "connected" in so many different instances, that I marvel at the planning needed to be undertaken to prepare this all (beforehand), and the patience needed to present them chronically, IMHO.

- GoWon appearing in similar locale in her teasers (leading up to her MV).

HaSeul's debut MV came after the Teaser for "The Carol" a day before "Let Me In", with the seasonal song debuting on the same day with her single.

Alongside HyunJin's "Around You", both debut "ballads" by the ladies do not include choreography in their performance.



HaSeul subsequently also performed a duet with 4th Member to be revealed; YeoJin, with "My Melody" (seen below), and is apart of the first sub-unit from the 12-Member girl group, named "LOONA 1/3" (along with HeeJin, HyunJin, and ViVi - the 5th girl to be revealed). I'll get to them soon. HaSeul also participated in reality talent show "MIXNINE", alongside HeeJin and HyunJin.



HaSeul is generally referred to and recognised as the "(den) mother" of the 12 girls, and the "leader" of the group (besides the "LOONA 1/3" sub-unit), and was active until the start of the "So What"-era, where BlockBerryCreative announced that she would be on hiatus during promotions due to a family tragedy (her grandmother had passed away), and subsequently sitting out of promotions for their [#] album due to diagnosed mental health concerns (intermittent anxiety symptoms) and would be taking time to focus on her health. These are the reported information, and we do not immediately know the exact details, nor do we "need" to, IMHO, as long as she is well and recovers strong and confident! Meanwhile, #MissingHaSeulHours :)



According to loonatheworld.fandom.com, "HaSeul also extended her hiatus to LOONA's third comeback "12:00" until she felt her recovery was better enough for promotions. December 29, 2020 a new teaser for their upcoming album "New Moon" was revealed. All the following members were shown, along with a clip of HaSeul in the teaser, possibly signifying her return."



Her presence during her hiatus is constantly felt and referred to by both the LOONA members themselves and Orbits (LOONA's fandom name), along with her tweets during the time period, congratulating LOONA on their wins - specifically their #1 Win at MCOUNTDOWN on March 12/2020. And yes, I recognize posted below is not a "tweet", but in place a Insta-upload, cheers :)



Besides the music video specific, you are able to currently see her in past episodes of LOONA TV (I reckon up until LOONA TV #580​), their group cover dances, and more recently in the first season of "LOONA THE TAM".

BONUS: That time when HaSeul was supposed to meet HeeJin and HyunJin at the airport for the very first time, but did not...(LOONA TV #50, dated "5 Jan 2017")... but they did managed to meet later, to film the MV for "The Carol".
