LOONA in QUEENDOM 2 Episode 8

And while I've recapped Episode 8 of Queendom 2, I'd wanted to specifically highlight LOONA's appearances from that episode, as they were exceedingly fleeting, no doubt a primer for their full segment feature in next week's episode 9, in line with their stage performance of "BUTTERFLY" - which is no longer user wraps, as all songs and pages have been previewed (better than the crappy leaks folks have been gawking about tio the past 2 weeks, innit?) - be that as it may, thanks to socials, we have clips to enjoy LOONA before we STREAM and VOTE next week!

What we had seen of LOONA in Ep8 were them interacting with their fans via a noticeboard wall of well wishes, and Orbits' letters projected via a screen, making the girls shed tears.

Snippets of their studio rehearsals for their eventual FANtastic Queendom stage performance (of "Butterfly")

Their reactions to Kep1er's, VIVIZ and WJSN's stages.

ASIDE: We've actually seen the sequence AFTER the "Orbit Letters Projection", back in Episode 3 (RECAPPED HERE) - the Episode where they performed SHAKE IT (FEATIRES on TUNESTALKSG).

I am reminded of a conversation I had with a new introduced acquaintance (years back), where she said she did not watch any "anime", as it was all only about "mini skirts" and "giant robots", and whereby I regaled her in the existence of Kekkai Sensen ("Blood Blockade Battlefront" ... the first season anyways :p), no doubt leaving her in further confusion what the show nor anime was (or simply I'm not as eloquent a geek as I think I am).

And I remembered KPOP to be somewhat the same for me before I started too: "Pretty girls with short skirts" = a result of watching ambiguous MVs on the telly (ironically when I used to devour S.E.S. and even BoA) for a few years too, until Big Bang and then Black Pink etc... and I remembered LOONA, which started with Kim Lip and the rest of OEC - which reinforced the "pretty girls with short skirts" notion... until I discovered the rest of LOONA and their MVs, some of which promoted a overall "healthier" aspect, as opposed to outright "sex-kitten".

LOONA had then - to me - was a collection of girls who did not need to "rely" on their "S"-line for attention (Kiddie-Cheorry might disagree), and were not carbon-copies of each other in the line-up, to which my perception of Kpop GG initially were, before I first started down the rabbit hole LOL

And the more I delved into the members - via their VLIVES, infotainment shows and variety show appearance, the more I found them to be hyper-active tomboys, whom obviously has etiquette training, but decided to unilaterally chuck that out the window, because 12 girls are a "GANG", and I loved them for it! My impressions and opinions have mellowed since ... :)

They might not be girly-girls, frail to a fault, needing to be protected (OF COURSE they NEED to be), but they are neither rebellious nor disrespectful ... or I certainly hope they are and can take care of themselves, depending on situations and given circumstances, of course.

They've most times portrayed themselves to be the buddy friend, if not buddy bestie, but not necessarily the pigeonholed "girlfriend of your dreams". -at least from the POV of a middle-aged Chinese man, thanks :p

Looking at them donning pants for their Butterfly stage in Queendom 2, they are not vying for the imaginary role of "girlfriend of your dreams in smexy mini skirt showing-legs" (no diss to anyone else, of course), but is obviously more concerned for showcasing their song under a much more comfortable way, IMHO.

Remember when I mentioned Kim Lip and OEC? It was when I found their BUTTERFLY MV, surprised and charmed by all twelve of them fully covered - from neck to wrists - than made me appreciate them so much more than the "pretty girls in short skirts"-perception, that I delved into more of LOONA, and eventual KPOP - which honestly still had its fair share of short skirts and pretty girls in every other KPOP MVs, along with even prettier boys in others (No judgement here, it is what it is).

That they continue to clad themselves neck to gauntlets in their PTT stage for Round 1, and jazzed themselves up for SHAKE IT, and continued to diverse in the angel frills for DON'T GO and smex-bomb TELL ME KNOW, continues to showcase their continued attempts at diversity and with not needing to be pigeon-holed into a specific category - not just in songs, but in "girl group" cliches and genres.

One hand says "Diversity", while the other might exclaim "Nothing to anchor your preference", and both can be as true as each individual tastes, and preferences. All I know for sure is that I'll STREAM as hard as I can, regardless if it is asked nor required of me, as I'd always thought "that's what fandoms do"? ... Don't they?
