QUEENDOM 2: Line-Up Announced & I take a closer look at each group/performer

South Korean pay television music channel "MNET" has announced the contestants to be apart of "QUEENDOM 2", with the first episode scheduled to air March 31st. This blog-feature'll serve to take a closer look at the contestants, their latest music videos, and more. But first, just WTH is "QUEENDOM"????

"Queendom" (Korean: 퀸덤) is a television program that aired on Mnet in 2019.

Essentially a survival-inspired-slash-"comeback battle" between 6 trending girl group acts, all 6 of whom'll release their singles at the same time. Lasting for 10 weeks (starting from August 29, 2019, and ended on October 31, 2019), Mamamoo was crowned the "queens", followed by Oh My Girl in second place.

Wiki explains more of the show (Edited below for readability):
"The program features 3 preliminary performances and 1 live comeback stage from each act. The Comeback Singles are newly produced songs from the 6 participating groups. The digital points accumulated for the Comeback Singles and live votes for the comeback stages on the final episode, together with the accumulated points from the 3 preliminary performances, are the keys to determine the final winner. The winning act will have a comeback show only for them, showing the new song and their other hit songs, arranged however they want it."

This program was followed by the boy band incarnation/counterpart known as "ROAD TO KINGDOM" followed by "KINGDOM: LEGENDARY WAR" (performances featured on TUNESTALKSG), where Stray Kids were crowned the Winner. Announced in 2021, is the return of Queendom, with "QUEENDOM 2".

While the details for performances and voting has yet to be revealed nor confirmed, here is a handly-look at partiipants whi've performed on MNET shows in the past (video below), and as well scroll thru for a closer look at the announced girl groups (listed in order of reveals on @MnetKR)...!

"Brave Girls" (브레이브걸스) is a South Korean girl group formed by producer Brave Brothers in 2011 and managed by Brave Entertainment. The group gained a sudden surge in popularity after their song "Rollin'" unexpectedly went viral in 2021, and rejuvenated their career.

Featured below is the MV for their track "After We Ride" (the lead single from their repackaged version of their fifth mini album "After 'We Ride'").

As reported on Wikipedia, member "Minyoung" was announced (on Jan 14, 2022) that she would be "suspending her activities temporarily due to poor health conditions." Stay tuned to Brave Girls' socials for updates on her status!

"LOONA" (commonly stylized as LOONA or LOOΠΔ; Korean: 이달의 소녀, romanized: Idarui Sonyeo; Japanese: 今月の少女, romanized: Kongetsu no Shōjo, lit. 'Girl of the Month') is a South Korean girl group formed by Blockberry Creative.

"The group was introduced to the public through a pre-debut project that began in October 2016, where each of the 12 members were revealed in a periodic fashion by releasing a promotional single over the following 18 months.[2] They debuted as a full ensemble with the extended play, [+ +] (2018)." It no secret this blog STANS LOONA. Do refer to the multiple clickable coverage on the blog-page-right, cheers.

Featured below is their latest MV for "PTT (Paint The Town)" (released June 2021), apart of their [&] album release.

I have chosen not to post their latest Japanese debut "Hula Hoop" because if you've (not) realized by now, all the latest MVs for the other girl groups are going pretty hard, and you cannot deny PTT for that (IMHO)!

"Kep1er" (케플러) is a South Korean girl group formed through the 2021 Mnet reality survival competition show "Girls Planet 999". The group is composed of nine members (Kim Chaehyun, Huening Bahiyyih, Choi Yujin, Kim Dayeon, Seo Youngeun, Kang Yeseo, Ezaki Hikaru, Sakamoto Mashiro and Shen Xiaoting), and is managed by Swing Entertainment and Wake One Entertainment.

Kep1er made their official debut on January 3, 2022 with their first extended play (EP) "First Impact", with the MV for ‘WA DA DA’ featured above. Kep1er is the literal "rookie group" in the line-up, even with the inclusion of Choi Yujin (formerly of CLC) in the line-up - no disrespect, but allow the group to shine together, why don't we?

Kim Hyo-jung (Korean: 김효정; born December 11, 1990), better known by her stage name Hyolyn (효린), is a South Korean singer and songwriter, now under the management of her own self-started production company Bridʒ. She is a former member of the South Korean girl group Sistar and their sub-unit Sistar19. (Source: Wikipedia).

The sole soloist for the program, Hyolyn takes over the role previously featuring Park Bom (of 2NE1), and featured above is her latest MV for "Layin' Low (feat. Jooyoung)", and it is plain to see she'll be able to stand strong amongst the other girl groups, IMHO. Not "convinced"? Here's another MV for "둘 중에 골라 (Summer or Summer)", featuring her fellow ex-member from Sistar; DASOM (다솜). OMG I got all emotional listening to this track LOL

Adding to the excitement (I really should not have watched the multiple reaction videos to the announce doling-up LOL), is TAEYEON as host of "QUEENDOM 2"!

Debuting as a member of girl group Girls' Generation in August 2007, she is most recently released "Can't Control Myself", "What Do I Call You", and was apart of SM Entertainment's power girl group "Girls On Top"...! I do not think I'll need to hype her up more than her name and rep has in Kpop, IMHO.

Imagine the sheer epicness of a fellow performer hosting the show, and what she can bring to the show, and the participating performers.

Seen below is her "Comeback Stage" for her excellent recently released track "INVU".
