ITZY's "마.피.아. In the morning" (English Version Lyric Video)
Found the ENGLISH Version Lyric Video for ITZY's "마.피.아. In the morning", and thought to share, and sharing my personal observations...
If you've not been following the hype and online drama surrounding South Korean girl group ITZY's "마.피.아. In The Morning" music video since it's end April 2021 release - it essentially had been a furore about the wording "MAFIA" (in the song title "Mafia In The Morning", which is titled "마.피.아. In The Morning" using Korean text), whereby the song was accused of glamourising the "Italian Mafia" (I can imagine KDrama "Vincenzo" clenching cheeks hard at this time LOL :p), including naysayers doubling down on the problematic use of "hand-gestures emulating hand-guns" ... when I'd felt had been outright a reference to a (South) Korean game known as "Mafia Dance" (I cannot erase LOONA's edition out of my mind lor), none-too subtly referenced in their album title "Guess Who?", and of the multiple of teasers leading up the MV release that spells out - perhaps too subtly (?) - what the song is about.
Being "clever" these days is a crapshoot, it seems, and might back-fire on some, who ironically had invested so much into their beloved groups to be given the benefit of the doubt ... but then again, the harsh reality is that the originator(s) of these accusations might not have been identified as actual "fans" of ITZY, are they? Will JY Park leave his artists "alone" the next time?
And everyone's hardworking going into the song, MV, album, is smeared with reactions. It's non too easy to entertain folks these days, isn't it?
