FOOTLOOSE (1984) Soundtrack Full Album Listen
I'd just watched 1984's FOOTLOOSE on cable tv (Classics on Paramount Network), and enjoyed both the movie and the memorable soundtrack - which I'd like to share here! Following listing from Wki:
#1. "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins
#2. "Let's Hear It for the Boy" by Deniece Williams
#3. "Almost Paradise" (Love Theme from Footloose) by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson
#4. "Holding Out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler
#5. "Dancing in the Sheets" by Shalamar
#6. "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" by Kenny Loggins
#7. "Somebody's Eyes" by Karla Bonoff
#8. "The Girl Gets Around" by Sammy Hagar
#9. "Never" by Moving Pictures
"The soundtrack was released in cassette, 8-track tape, vinyl, and CD format. The soundtrack was also re-released on CD for the 15th anniversary of the film in 1999. The re-release included four new songs: "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" by Quiet Riot, "Hurts So Good" by John Mellencamp, "Waiting for a Girl Like You" by Foreigner, and the extended 12" remix of "Dancing in the Sheets"." (Wiki). The following tracks added nothing to my enjoyment of the movie I just watched through, but I am adding these in to "complete" the soundtrack :p
#10. "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" by Quiet Riot
#11. "Hurts So Good" by John Mellencamp
#12. "Waiting For A Girl Like You" by Foreigner
#13. "Dancing in the Sheets" (Extended 12" Remix)
"Footloose" is a 1984 American musical drama film directed by Herbert Ross. It tells the story of Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon), a teenager from Chicago who moves to a small town, where he "attempts to overturn the ban on dancing instituted by the efforts of a local minister (John Lithgow)." I liked it that this was approached not with a huge rebellious act of defiance, but of sincere truth and a direct approach to resolving the situation, which as I am watching now at my "advanced age", felt very appreciative of, compared to the "battles" presented in multiple films thru the years, where "rebellion" is just, IMHO.
There was a remake in 2011 that held zero affection from me, least the soundtrack. There was even a remake of the track "Almost Paradise" performed by Victoria Justice and Hunter Hayes. This would be the first and last time I'll ever evoke that film again, thank you.
