80s Music Memories: WANG CHUNG

My first memories of WANG CHUNG was hearing "Dance Hall Days" on the local radio. Fascinated with the beat and synth-work, it was slightly veering off the synth-pop of the British New Wave, and decidedly more "pop" than Americana po-rock of that era, and I looked forward to their tunes subsequently. Enjoying "Let's Go" and "Everybody Have Fun Tonight", but I had never taken to buy procure their 1986 album "Points on the Curve" but frankly remembered only their main singles, and the subsequent "To Lie and Die In L.A.", and off they went on my radar.

Featured below is "Dance Hall Days" (from their 1983 album "Points on the Curve"), and subsequent MVs showcased is not according to their chronological order of release, thanks!

"Don't Let Go" (Audio Only / from their 1983 album "Points on the Curve")

"Everybody Have Fun Tonight" (from their 1986 album "Mosaic")

"Let's Go" (from their 1986 album "Mosaic")

"Hypnotize Me" (Mosaic Version 1987)

"Fire In The Twilight" was apart of the OST for "The Breakfast Club" (1985) that unfortunately was not as memorable for me tho...

"To Live And Die In L.A." is the title track of the 1985 Soundtrack not the film "TO LIVE & DIE IN L.A." (which I never watched in full, actually). Also featured below the MV ids the acoustic version of the track. And as mentioned, I'd lost track of the band since...

WHO-IS: "Wang Chung is an English new wave band, formed in London in 1980 by Nick Feldman, Jack Hues and Darren Costin. The name Wang Chung means "yellow bell" in Chinese (黃鐘, pinyin: huáng zhōng; Wade–Giles: huang chung), and is the first note in the Chinese classical music scale. The band found their greatest success in the US, with five Top 40 hits there, all charting between 1983 and 1987, including "Dance Hall Days" (No. 16 in 1984), "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" (No. 2 in 1986) and "Let's Go!" (No. 9 in 1987)." (Wiki)
I've never truly given thought to WHO "Wang Chung" is, and never delved into who each member were, nor their names even - unlike other bands which I adored - until this post. Never too late, innit? Featured below are full album-rips of both "Points On The Curve" and "Mosaic", which I cannot remember if I had them on cassette tho...

MOSIAC (Full Album-rip):

I'd discovered this track "Abducted By The 80's" - the first track from their double EP circa 2010 - and thought the song tile was so "ME" LOL
