Rookies
Saw a tweet listing "rookie kpop acts look forward to in 2025" from the "Grammys", and thought to share MVs and my thoughts.
And while I have posted about MEOVV, izna and ARTMS (*an understatement LOL), I am was well "familiar" with QWER and even Rescene, but am wholly unfamiliar with NEXZ, KickFlip and Say My Name.
It is somehow "interesting" with the notion of "rookie" groups, as there might not be too deep a music discography to familiarise yourselves with, which would make it "easier" for you to Stan or be a fan of, without the burden of backlogged music and an evolved acceptance of the different members and reacting to them and their existence .... But at the same time, would there be enough content to keep you engaged? Enough to continue to "find out more"?
In an age of "Binge", we are all hankering for content, "continued content" no less, least our collective attention veer away staring down the latest "shiny thing" popped-up in our timelines! LOL
I've always felt the daily / regular self-vlog(s) / self-created content helps to keep folks engaged in between their musical comebacks, and that there'll be a constant "discovery" if you are a "new fan" versus older fans/listeners having a "connection" to the group, because of the investment of their time, attention, and perhaps even $$$. There is a faded border between "finite finances" (buying CD albums + merch) versus "free-to-fandom" (listen/watch on YouTube but never paying for anything directly), innit?
For ARTMS, I have had an entire LOONA-discography to devour (and have been well fed thru the years), and continue to music-stalk ARTMS the instant they signed to MODHAUS, so I am able to "keep up" somewhat, cheers.
Having had featured MEOVV and izna from their debut, I've not since followed their journey (reminding me somewhat if buying first issues of comicbooks "for the value", but not engaged enough to continue buying subsequent issues LOL). "Good music" can not go "wrong" too, methinks.
