NewJeans (뉴진스)

Latest South Korean girl group "NewJeans is currently one of the top "rookie groups" to explode thru KPOP (alongside LE SSERAFIM, IVE and NMIXX = Understandably this might be different with different fans, cheers), with the top image of the girls taken for Chuseok, but not before multiple cheers and jeers (which I'll touch on briefly below), followed by a "How NewJeans Was Formed"-video from InternetsNathan (because I need me straight-up education, cheers).

WHO-ARE (via kpop.fandom.com/wiki/NewJeans): NewJeans (뉴진스) is a five-member girl group under ADOR. They made their debut with the EP "New Jeans" on August 1st (digital release) and August 8th (physical release). In the days leading to the album release, NewJeans has released multiple music videos:

"Attention" (July 22)
"Hype Boy" (July 23)
"Hurt" (July 25)
"Cookie" (August 1)

"Attention", "Hype Boy" and "Cookie" as the album's triple lead singles.
"Hype Boy" was released with FOUR MVs, with each version depicting the POV of each member (exception of DANIELLE & HAERIN in a single MV). Featured here today are all 7 MVs (3 + 4).

The soundscape reminds me of 90s' R&B, with a easy chillin'back eyes-closed body-groove without the need to solicit "LOOK AT MEEEEE", IMHO.

The group consists of 5 girls (aged between 14 to 18 years old, at time of this blogpost), as managed and produced by ADOR's CEO, Min Hee Jin, whose identity in KPOP has been anticipated and cheered for, alongside the jeers and strongly-worded accusations with the debut of NewJeans. Here are the member's names and date of birth (info via kpop.fandom.com/wiki/NewJeans):

Kim Min-ji (김민지) AKA Minji (May 7, 2004 / age 18)
Phạm Ngọc Hân AKA Pham Hanni (October 6, 2004 / age 17)
Danielle Marsh / Mo Ji-hye (모지혜) AKA Danielle (April 11, 2005 / age 17)
Kang Hae-rin (강해린) AKA Haerin (May 15, 2006 / age 16)
Lee Hye-in (이혜인) AKA Hyein (April 21, 2008 / age 14)

As you can imagine, what they wore, how they were dressed and packaged, even the suggestive English-translated lyrics (for the track "Cookie") accompanied their debut period, and continues to be debated right now on socials (as far as my www-timeline goes), which as resulted in double-down official statements, and seeing the girls dressed more "age-appropriate" for their stage shows afters (Yes, I sound like a old fogey is becoz I am).

Part of me choose not to engage in the wwwconversation (resulting in this delayed blog-feature), as it all instinctively felt like "noise marketing", which frankly "worked" to get at my attention anyways. And it helped that I adore the music, which I am old enough to recognise and appreciate LOL

I am not ging to opine too much on "public outcry", but the reality is that I do feel that the existence is a necessity (be it "organic" or "manufactured)), as quite frankly I would hardly 100% wholly trust a co-operation or company to "do the right thing", IMHO.

NewJeans have their own dedicated YouTube Channel, consisting of both performance videos and slice-of-life "Light Jeans" and "Jeans’ ZINE" where the girls bake, and "go to school".

Regardless "intentional by initial design", or "evolved to suit public sentiments", this is what NewJeans are right now, a collection of young girls performing KPOP and are likely fulfilling their dreams(?).
