Recapping Episode 2 of #Queendom2



Episode 2 of QUEENDOM 2 premiered Thursday night of April 7th at 9:20PM KST, featuring over an hour and 50minutes of content, for which I'll attempt a TLDR for (*Thank goodness I didn't need Twitter Crumbs this time around LOL).

WATCH WHERE?
The premier was unwatchable where I am at via Mnet's YT, but thanks to folks online I was able to enjoy the show. Shout out to @loonatheph, and as well you can scroll to the bottom of this post for a Tweeted watch. English subtitles came with the streamed program, so that is awesome for international viewers (*Raises hands)..



I have also not searched beyond my previous viewing, but this should also be watchable on VIU.com (EP2 not uploaded yet at time of this post published / expect constant advertising breaks).

Broadcast in Singapore for Episode 2 is scheduled for Sunday April 10th at 6PM Singapore time on tvN Asia channel (schedules featured earlier), which frankly factors in as a "later-last-minute signal boost" for streaming votes on Mnet's YT channel, perhaps?

If time permits, perhaps I'll do another watch or three (Like I did Episode 1), but no promises to myself LOL





TLDR
After Episode 1 Introductions and multiple online Queen's Land behindthescenes B-Sides (I certainly hope Mnet continues with this for all episodes!), and the showcase of HYOLYN's and VIVIZ's stages (Voting since ended), Episode 2 continues with the showcase of the rest of the 4 teams, including LOONA's, which was included at the end, but was not eligible for Peer/Self Assessment (by other teams and soloist), Live Audience Voting and Global Audience Voting, which left LOONA in 6th place, and in danger of being eliminated if they consecutively place last in the next round.





VROOM VROOM WITH KEP1ER
We start the program off with Kep1er, behind choosing of songs, their concerns with the show addressed, leading to their stage performance, which has since been uploaded online for your streaming (excluding other team's reaction cams, which are seen in Ep.2 itself).



All the "drama" we saw in the trailer and previews of Ep.2 were edited from problems during Kep1er's rehearsals. Their sincerity was evident, even if it was edited to be. And this was also Kep1er's "first time" performing in front of a live studio audience (*Remember "Girls Planet 999" happened and was formed during the pandemic period), with brand new choreography too.



BRAVE PERFORMANCE:
BRAVE GIRLS' sequence continued the journey of QUEENDOM 2 (with a slight intermission), with behindthescenes of the quartet deciding on their representative song (which was a remix of 치맛바람/Chi Mat Ba Ram & 롤린/Rollin'), the effort put into their track(s), and planning for performance, followed by their stage performance (presented based on the Cue Sheet agreed upon in Ep.1), watchable here:



Their LIVE vocals trump everything else, which saw them attempting a repertoire with performance enhancing props and stage dancers.



WISH COME TRUE WITH WJSN
The spotlight was cast on the next team: WJSN / COSMIC GIRLS, where we follow them thru their discussions and decision n their song choice, and of their efforts rehearsing for the stage, including Eunseo - who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 during their rehearsals, but managed to clear quarantine and return to the fold a literal day before filming their stage!



And what a magnificent stage it was. Alas for the damaged hand-held prop which led to tears from Seola, Exy and Eunseo (which we saw in the end preview sequence in Ep.1). This aspect was not "evil edited" by Mnet, alas.



One thing I realized was, that this interview sequence(s) which was posted earlier by Mnet was not included in the final shown Episode.



ROUND 1 PERFORMANCES END
After Round One performances, we are next brought back to the Queendom Interview Studio Stage, but not before we are shown the wholesome close friendship between SinB of VIVIZ and Eunseo of WJSN (Which seemed to be the reply to folks accusations of "Evil Editing" LOL). And there was a quick preview and mention of LOONA's Round 1 Stage performance to come after the next sequence!







ASSESSING THE COMPETITION
And if there were "Evil Editing", the next sequence of events would be the "perfect" place to witness this, are we are treated with results for LIVE AUDIENCE VOTING, and GLOBAL AUDIENCE VOTING, and the most drama of all, the CONTESTANT EVALUATION of each others' performances (what I call "Peer Assessment"), where each team were to choose someone BETTER than them, and someone WORSE than them. If they choose NOT to choose a BETTER performer/team, they HAD to choose someone WORSE than them.



Both a strategic move, and disappointing feedback, this was what defined the "Survival Show" aspect of QUEENDOM 2, methinks.

There was an Intermission before the results are announced (screengrab below), the reasons and rationale for their choices are not revealed here, and needs to be watched by yourselves! Remember the "Honey"-relationship between SinB and Eunseo? LOL

Queendom 2 Round 1 Final Results


LOONA PERFORMS ROUND 1 STAGE
With the results out, the spotlight next goes to LOONA - whom Grandmaster Taeyeon was given the task to ask on air the competing teams "if they'd wanted to watch the video of LOONA's Round 1 Stage Performance", which they agreed, and we were treated to this what is now known as the "Hwarang"-version of "PTT (Paint The Town)"! Go stream HERE on YouTube direct! Know that all streams and LIKES will be counted as VOTES, with assessment ending Monday April 11th (at 11:59pm KST).





ROUND 2 THEME ANNOUNCED & TEAMS PICKED
The next round was announced to be "Cover Songs", where each performer/team was to choose the other team they'll pair up with and cover reach other's song. Since HYOLYN was the winner for this round, she had first pick, and decided on LOONA (who were absent all this time, as they were under quarantine for COVID-19).



I swear I effin felt tears welt up when everyone else was saying they wanted to cover LOONA's songs. At the very least acknowledgment of their discography, made me truly fist-pumping proud for LOONA, and proud to be a fan.

At this point I really wish to (A) Find out the reaction from the girls from LOONA for this - not just for Hyolyn, but for everyone else too ... and (B) Utterly intrigued WHICH SONG each of the competing teams would have chosen...!

WJSN picked to pair with VIVIZ.
Brave Girls were paired with Kep1er.

By now, you might have seen or know of LEAKS online for the Round 2 stages, which regardless needs to be watched in full glory during the broadcast, IMHO. They've been deleted off Twitter, and they should continue to be reported and deleted, as it will directly affect the teams and their status in the competition with the leaks.



The show ends with a tease of HOYLYN's choice of the Cue Sheet (who performs in what order), and as well scenes of LOONA's stage for Round 2, which OMFG the leaks do absolutely zero justice for!



Now I have to wonder if ALL SIX teams'll be able to show off their stages in the coming Episode 3? Or will they be split up again, as we saw in Ep1 & 2? ENJOY THE SHOW, folks!
