Introducing Kim Lip of LOONA (6th Girl To Be Revealed for 이달의 소녀)
UPDATED: The following Concept Photos were revealed (From June 3-June 6, 2021) in anticipation of LOONA's 4th mini album [&] comeback, scheduled for 2021.6.28 pm6 (KST) Release.
With the formation of "LOONA 1/3", BlockBerry Creative had started a M.O., in addition to the individual reveals of "Girls of the Month" (but not necessarily within a given nor fixed "monthly" schedule), where a number of girls will debut with their own single and MV, and subsequently forming a sub-unit, leading to the final forming of the main 12-member group we know as "LOONA".
The next three girls revealed will form the next sub-unit named "ODD EYE CIRCLE", and subsequent 4 girls revealed will form "YYXY"... but I will get to them, chronologically, in my "Introducing LOONA"-series. With that said, today's focus will be on the 6th girl to be revealed...

Introducing "Kim Lip"! Or as Orbits have named "Kimberly Lippington", "Lippie" etc...!
The given stage name for Kim Jung-Eun by BBC, she debuted on May 15, 2017, as a member and subsequently released her solo single album "Kim Lip" on May 23, 2017. Then following MV for "ECLIPSE" was THE TRACK which caught my ears, and subsequently finding and devouring the entire LOONA-discography online, and LOVING THEM SINCE!

As previously announced, the girl of May has arrived.
Kim Lip is a 19 year old girl who starts to draw a new circle, different from the one drawn by the previous members.
While we traveled around the world going to places such as France, Japan, Iceland, England, Taiwan, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Busan to witness the LOOΠΔ episodes according to locations, the new circle will evolve around three different colors. Kim Lip, representing the color red, will gather two other girls to add to the palette of the circle.
As Kim Lip changes up the way the circle is drawn, the style of music they bring to the game moves forward as well. The title track, 'Eclipse' is an urban R&B track produced by Daniel Obi Klein, the producer of E-Sens' critically acclaimed album 'The Anecdote'. While LOOΠΔ 1/3 has asked questions about love, the sweetness, the pain, the joy, the worries, and hidden emotions, Kim Lip tells without any hesitation that "love just happens like it's destined to," in the lyrics.
"Even the moonlight feels like you," she says in the supporting track 'Twilight', singing through a sleepless night towards the moon. Cha Cha Malone, the producer of AOMG wrote the song for Kim Lip, adding a deeper tint to Kim Lip's color red.
Kim Lip is a fresh start for LOOΠΔ's expansion of their universe. A new unit will be formed along with the girl of June and the girl of July to present a whole new color, different from LOOΠΔ 1/3. The new unit and LOOΠΔ 1/3 will co-exist and unify in Loonaverse, and when other members scattered around the world unite to create a bigger circle as a whole, the construction of the moon LOOΠΔ has been dreaming about will be complete.
Can JinSoul, rescued from a basement in Hong Kong by the wishes of the fans, meet with the rest of the LOOΠΔ?
Will YeoJin find her way towards the other members without wandering off somewhere else?
Who will Kim Lip meet to complete her circle of colors?
With the introduction of Kim Lip, LOOΠΔ eclipses."

With a radiant and sensual performance, with that gaze of a Queen and Angel, teasingly juxtaposed atop a scarlet stage amidst a dilapidated world, and a soundscape that embraced your senses, where you hold your breath for the duration of the song, and only begin to breathe as she walks off, only to loop to "Girl Front" with OEC ... this video is as iconic and classic LOONA now, than it was when it premiered, IMHO. Kim Lip is here to stay, people!
"Kim Lip" is the first single album by Kim Lip, with the physical album sold in two separate versions, A and B. I have yet to find info about WHY two versions - either featuring two different album covers/looks, or also including the internal pages of her photobook .... I certainly hope to one day be able to procure both albums for my own collections, to at least see for myself ...

DESIGNATED SUPER-POWER: loonatheworld.fandom.com listed it as "Time Travel", which translates to "Super-Speed"- which makes sense more to me, seeing her with a portable cassette player, and turning to the B-Side (in OEC's "Girl Front" MV), as if she was "reversing time".
One aspect which I truly enjoyed about OEC, are that each individual member had "super-powers", and that tangent of story-telling appealed greatly to a comicbook-nerd as myself, thanks!

With the debut of Kim Lip, the visual focus had turned from "wholesome girls" (in the pre and "LOONA 1/3"-era), to a decidedly slightly more mature (some might say "sexier") and healthier and active look and tone for the girls - namely Kim Lip, JinSoul (7th girl revealed) and Cheorry (8th girl revealed), all three forming OEC, with a distinctive look different from LOONA 1/3 ... but I'll get to them eventually :)

From Kim Lip's debut on "May 15", to JinSoul's official debut in "June 13", in had been nearly a month in-between in 2017, and they continued to co-promote until Cheorry debuted in "July 12" in the same year, quite literally a month after each other.
She who does not think she is "cute". She who wanted to be a "MAFIA" (In a "Mafia Game" lah). She who eats waffles with spray-on whipped cream. The MOOMIN-lookalike. The most attractive Tree Trunk Cosplayer. She who should not always be so close to the floor to take pictures...! From blonde to brunette, and back.
I'll end this blog-feature with three recent "LIPPIE'S VLOGS" (LOONA LOG #16, #18 & #19) - filmed and edited by Kim Lip herself! AND I am adding in CHUU's VLOG where Kim Lip appears, and you can see the energy is so much different for when both buddies are together (*She attended three years of high school with Chuu together as friends, "pre-debut"), than "apart", IMHO. Remember to switch on the English-subtitles, folks!
