BOYS LIKE YOU vs LOVE STORY

Folks online have been saying ITZY's latest English single release "Boys Like You" (MV above) sounds like Taylor Swift's "Love Story" from 2008 (MV below). I personally hear the similarities, but then again (A) I am neither a music nor audio expert, and (B) Sounds generically "Pop" either way. Listen for yourselves, cheers.



There are folks who also say the lyrics are "cringe", but I've not needed to judge a (South) Korean song's lyrics as I do not know the language, and that has help guided me in my "Kpop-journey" so far, cheers.

... Oh look, "Big Machine Music" is listed as "Music Publisher", and seems Taylor Swift was the first client of "Big Machine Records". Digging a little deeper (when instead I should be enjoying my Sunday ~ tsk), this is what I found on Wikipedia:

- Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings had purchased Big Machine Records on June 30, 2019.
(Taylor Swift's feud with Scooter Braun is infamous in the music scene, whereby Swift's songs' copyright remained with Ithaca).

- Taylor Swift rerecorded "Love Story (Taylor's Version)" and released it on February 12, 2021 first, and is apart of her "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" album. Listen to the Lyric video posted below.

- Ithaca Holdings, including Big Machine, was sold to the South Korean music and entertainment firm Hybe Corporation (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) on April 2, 2021.

Look, in the first place, it might well not be the artists' choice nor decision to sing nor record this track (*although I might also be wholly wrong here :p), so somewhere someone has to answer for this decision made, and that more likely will not happen, and ITZY'll get the flack? Man, "Kpop" can be really brutal...!
