80s Songs from STRANGER THINGS (Season 4)

Not gonna lie - with the way things are going right now, I'd never have been able to watch Season 3 of "Stranger Things", in preparation for Season 2 (Parts 1 & 2), because let's face it, I'm the sprite that needs proper continuity, so Stranger Things would essentially be left by the wayside of blogposts... but these two tracks made the difference for me... SPOILERS AHEAD

("Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush)

Beyond the familiarity with the song (in this particular case, Ms Bush's), I'd read in the video's comments the character Max and her fight with depression, and how the scene and situations and words had paralleled how someone with depression might have felt (*which I cannot authenticate, and neither am I in any position to pretend otherwise what I am unfamiliar with, but)... and this scene hit so different and impactful.

Love it that the songs are not just "window dressing" meant to only stylize the intended period of the project, but able to encompass a deeper meaning, IMHO.

In a way - something which I'd only just discovered not too long ago - is my own personal connection to 80s' songs, not just that it symbolised an era of my growing-up, mocked and ridiculed in some quarters are "kitschy-nostalgia" (perhaps), but were very real memories of my live, heartbreaks, disappointments, victories - everything that led me to where and who I am now. And how or what "Running UP That Hill" appealed or is connected to a fictional character "Max", might well be a true memory of someone somewhere, perhaps perhaps perhaps... THAT said, I only recognise a small fraction of the songs listed here (via seventeen.com) ~ LOL
