POSE with LOONA 이달의 소녀



One aspect of QUEENDOM 2 revealed in Episode 9, is the digital release of each team's brand new single meant for the FINAL ROUND, where folks' votes and streaming/download will go toward the tabulated results.

LOONA's track is "POSE" (scroll to the bottom for full song listen) release at 12pm on May 27.2022, which is described as: "For their final performance in Queendom 2, LOONA shows a bad-girl appearance that they've never shown before. With a conceptual beat and addictive bassline it also includes LOONA's kitschy rap and melody. When LOONA appears to complete turn the tables, Lights Camera, Action, POSE!"

The track possess the verve and aggressiveness first hinted on about in "PTT (Paint The Town)" now given a new outlet in yet another color from the South Korean girl group. Immediate vibe is a wider and broader hyper-urbanized worldview, a electronica-bass-deep soundscape slapping me immediate of "K/DA", and I am all for it! SLAP ME HAAAAARD and I LIKE IT!

This is as far away from "Butterfly" as you can muster, which on one hand is worrisome as folks might be disconnected - having watched their "Butterfly" stage for Queendom 2, and this track ... but at the same time I am absolutely jazzed that LOONA has been showcasing a wildly diverse discography so far in QUEENDOM 2!

Remembering Yves' previous words (paraphrasing): "Looking at the big picture" - which in my own corner of my mind feels to be "leaving a lasting legacy behind", versus "winning the crown". Of course they need to win, but let's not forget once the contest ends, the crown might well gather dust in a shelf somewhere (imagine that they've been disavowed a physical crown as trophy lah :p), but for their performances that'll continue to remain immortal and legendary online or otherwise. They certainly are for me, understandably I am biased but... :)

LOONA could simply and solely perform to score points from their peers and audience, by siphoning off concepts from earlier stages (No further comment) ... but I've felt that they've taken bold choices to achieve their stages thus far, each with a singular vision, along with a big picture in mind, that by the end of the contest day, would simply make a well-round compilation of songs and stages is they stage-o-graphy, each diverse from one another, and yet linked in some way or form - very much like their LOONAVERSE and worldwdview, IMHO.

But no worries if you are here to find out WHAT to do, and go WHERE to vote ~ All good :)
